Women's bodies have near-perfect knowledge of childbirth; it's when their brains get involved that things can go wrong.

PEGGY VINCENT, Baby Catcher

COMING SOON:

Come see how fun childbirth education can be!

Class Info.

Classes are open to EVERYONE.  Whether you are having a hospital, homebirth, or birthing center birth you will learn valuable information in these classes.  Mom is encouraged to bring along her support person (spouse, friend, parent, etc.)  Whoever you think will be the most encouraging and supportive of you while you are in labor is who you should bring as your support person.

Material covered includes (but is definitely not limited to):

  • Anatomy
  • Preterm Labor
  • Nutrition
  • Signs of Labor
  • Stages of Labor
  • Pain (what it is and how to manage)
  • Informed Consent
  • Birth Preferences
  • Comfort Measures
  • Massage
  • Relaxation
  • Labor Variations & Intervention
  • Postpartum
  • Breastfeeding
  • Newborn

This is not a childbirth class where you will be lectured to for hours on end.  Of course there will be teaching, but you will also learn from your peers.  We have many activities in class in which mom and her support person get to interact with others.  We will have discussions, see some videos, and get down on the floor and practice what we are learning!

**Please contact me by your 30th week of pregnancy so we can schedule a class.  Classes are offered bi-monthly (September, November, etc.)  I don't want you to miss out on class, so be sure to register early.**

LOCATION: Thunder Mountain Community Church.  4300 E. Golden Acres Drive.  Sierra Vista, AZ 85650  (If you are driving South on Hwy 90 you will pass the mall on your right.  Continue straight and you will see a Circle K on your left.  Take an immediate left onto Golden Acres Drive.  The church is down on your right.)  Go in the main doors and take a left.  The room we will be in is on the right.

TIME: 6:30-9:00 pm

COST: $40

WHAT TO BRING:

  • A pillow for you and your support person
  • Food/Drink
  • Wear comfy clothes!  We will be on the floor practicing positions and doing relaxation exercises, so a skirt might not be too ideal
